Independent Cinema Milton Keynes creates memorable encounters with moving image, producing film programmes and celebratory events that reveal untold stories and unseen perspectives.

ICMK develops the skills and profile of filmmakers from the city and the region, helping to bring distinct new talent to our screens.  We co- programme Friday Night Films at MK Gallery and produce events with a wide variety of organisations and groups.

ICMK started in November 2007. The idea to buy a 1911 cinema building and open an arts cinema. In 2008 the recession hit, our plans changed and they have changed several times since, but it hasn’t stopped us.  Last year, ICMK recorded 3936 attendances at events, screened 96 films across Milton Keynes with 33 artists, filmmakers and musicians, 14 groups and 52 volunteers.

This year we are are going to try to turn all of the work we have developed, the staff time, the volunteer hours too many to mention, the track record, the creative successes, the failures, (I know we are not supposed to mention those), the wonderful relationships we have made into something extraordinary.
